Several members of the Milton speech team recently qualified to attend two national tournaments at the end of the school year. Lyndsey Mugford (II) and Alexandra Upton (I) earned spots at the National Speech and Debate Association’s tournament in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in June; Lyndsey for her work in the humorous interpretation category and Alexandra for dramatic interpretation. Soleil Devonish (I) and Cecilia Guan (I) qualified as alternates for the NSDA tournament.

Lyndsey and Alexandra are joined by four teammates in qualifying to compete in the National Catholic Forensic League’s Grand National Tournament in Washington, D.C., over Memorial Day Weekend. They qualified in the dramatic performance event. Thea Chung (IV) and Ben Simpson (IV) qualified in duo interpretation. Jana Amin (IV), who is the reigning NSDA middle school national champion in original oratory, qualified for the NCFL tournament in the same category as a freshman this year. Maya Bokhari (III) qualified in the declamation event.
