Community Engagement Programs and Partnerships (CEPP) is pleased to announce two domestic service trip opportunities for students. Participants in the March break trip will help rebuild homes in New Orleans communities still affected by destruction from Hurricane Katrina. While we originally had hoped to send students to an area affected by one of the 2017 storms, the infrastructure is not yet in place for a group involving high school students. It will be useful for students to see in New Orleans how long it can take a region to recover from serious hurricane damage.
A second service trip in June will send a Milton group to the Southwest to engage in service work and learning with Navajo communities. Anyone interested should attend meetings on Parents’ Weekend Friday 5:30 p.m. (Cox Library) or Saturday 11:30 a.m. (Wigg Hall). Deposits will be due Nov.1. Inquiries always welcome at community_engagement@milton.edu
In other CEPP news, 150 students have begun weekly service trips to our local partners (schools, daycares, elder centers). And yesterday, Class III and IV students fanned out across Milton and greater Boston to engage in community service projects during the morning.
